Combination Skin

With combination skin, you're likely experiencing dry sections on your outer cheeks and shine in your T-Zone. Comedones (blackheads/whiteheads) may exist. Using products that claim to 'dry up' the oils may dehydrate your skin, thus, contribute to aging signs and more comedones. The following formulas are recommended to discourage the formation on new comedones while supporting the skin's suppleness and moisture balance. Recommended Formulations:

If experiencing acne, try implementing these helpful guidelines:

Choose makeup and skin care preparations which contain non-comedogenic ingredients that don't contribute to new comedone formations (blackheads/whiteheads).

Exfoliate the skin periodically because this step has an 'unroofing' action on obstructed pores which facilitates the escape of trapped debris. Both AHA's and BHA's are non-comedogenic. They remove accumulated dead cells, making them an ideal choice for almost every skin type -providing that all other ingredients in the formula are also non-comedogenic.

Look for products that contain ingredients that posses anti-inflammatory properties for the reduction of red, swollen blemishes.

Look for products that contain ingredients that possess anti-bacterial properties to reduce the risk of bacterial spread without 'drying' the skin.

If your skin is sensitive, you may want to find products with no artificial fragrances and dyes.

Maintain the skin's moisture balance to deter aging signs and/or surface dehydration. Non-comedogenic moisturizers that promote even skin suppleness without contributing to new blemish formations make the best sense. Those with Sunscreens provide additional protection against free-radical assaults in the day time hours while those that contain Antioxidants for countering free-radical damage are best applied at night, when the cells are resting and more readily able to absorb such nutrients.

Look for products that promote healthy tissue growth along with stronger cellular immunity i.e. Allantoin and EFA's (i.e. Hemp, Borage). Recommended Formulations:

Dry, Environmentally Aged Skin

As natural moisturizing factors deplete with age, the skin becomes more susceptible to moisture loss, particularly trans-epidermal water loss (TEWL). Natural Moisturizing Factors are humectants that are naturally present in the skin (NMF's) and include Sodium PCA, Hyaluronic acid and Urea. As NMF's deplete with age, they may be REPLACED by applying products that contain one or more of these skin hydrators i.e. the BioStrat Post Mist and the BioStrat Facial Moisturizing Sunscreen. Moreover, NMF's may be RETAINED by applying creams that help to prevent water moisture loss through evaporation. In addition to replacing and retaining our skin's moisture levels with NMF's, we can also combat aging signs by incorporating products that contain the following ingredients into our skin care programs:

AHA's to assist the cellular renewal process, and collagen (strength) and glycans (moisture) production.

Antioxidants to counter existing free-radical damage (best applied at night when the cells are resting).

Sunscreen moisturizers to help protect the skin against free-radical damage.

Although not all pigment related concerns are treatable, UV-induced discolourations generally respond well to melanocyte inhibitors (blocking agents) which should always be worn underneath a sunscreen moisturizer (even on cloudy days) to help prevent further UV damage. The BioLight Supreme Fading Gel™ is designed for this purpose yet other products containing glycolic acid and Vitamin C may also lighten the skin's overall appearance. Recommended Formulations:
